Press Release: Yolo County Animal Services Launches Countywide Pet Food Donation Drive to Support Families in Need

November 17, 2025

Woodland, CA – As many local families face growing financial strain and the reduction of SNAP benefits, Yolo County Animal Services (YCAS) is launching a countywide pet food donation program to ensure that beloved pets can stay healthy, fed, and home where they belong. The initiative will run through the end of 2025, helping to distribute donated pet food to community members in need across Yolo County.

“Now more than ever, our community needs your support,” said Stephanie Amato, Director of YCAS. “No one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets. Every donation – no matter the size – helps keep families together and ensures that local pets receive the care and nutrition they deserve.”

Donation bins will be available at participating businesses throughout Yolo County, and residents can also drop off donations directly at YCAS (located at 2640 E Gibson Road, Woodland, CA 95776). For those who prefer to give online, YCAS also accepts contributions through its Amazon and Chewy wishlists at yoloshelter.org/donate.

YCAS is also seeking volunteers to assist with collecting donations from drop-off sites and distributing supplies to families and community partners.

“Pet food insecurity is an often-overlooked part of community wellbeing,” added Amato. “By coming together, we can make a real difference for our neighbors and their animals during these challenging times.”
